Up to 50,000 Gippslanders are expected to vote early ahead of Saturday's federal election, with MP Darren Chester highlighting strong turnout, positive engagement, and the convenience of early voting centres.
Up to 50,000 Gippslanders are tipped to cast an early vote ahead of this Saturday's federal election, according to local MP Darren Chester. Mr Chester said on Monday that 22,466 people had already voted with five booths across the region, expecting a big turnout for the remainder of the week.

Encouraging early voting
Mr Chester said, "I was at the polling booths in Morwell, Traralgon, Sale, Bairnsdale and Lakes Entrance throughout the first week of voting and caught up with hundreds of people. There was a positive atmosphere, and it was great to see many first-time voters exercising their democratic right. Early voting is a good way to avoid long waits, it can be easier for people with mobility issues, and if you are working or travelling on election day, the early voting option is a winner."
