Significant boost to economy
Bass Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Whelan, said, "The Australian MotoGP is incredibly important for our local businesses as it provides an important boost to our economy outside of school holidays and the peak summer period. Our spectacular coastline and natural environment, as well as plenty of off-track activities, were also broadcast around the world to remind visitors how special our region is."
"I would like to congratulate the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and other partnering organisations that contribute to making it such a fantastic event. Thank you to our community for once again welcoming fans from all over the world back to Phillip Island." Cr Whelan said.
Biggest crowd in decade
Cr Whelan said, "To have the biggest crowd in a decade is testament to how much fans and riders love the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit, we just love hearing time and time again how Phillip Island is their favourite track. It was so good to see everyone out enjoying themselves."
"Council is proud to host the Cowes entertainment across the weekend in partnership with several local businesses. Cowes really came to life on Saturday night with over 3,000 people enjoying the free concert on the foreshore. Safe travels to all our visitors. We look forward to welcoming you back next year."
