Labertouche Community Hall gets lovingly restored through the Latrobe Valley Authority,s Community and Facility Fund
Labertouche Community Hall has been lovingly restored with a new roof, ceiling and floor, thanks to support from the Andrews Labor Government.
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing officially opened the redeveloped Hall in Labertouche today, with Labertouche and District Community Centre receiving a $117,950 grant through the Latrobe Valley Authority's Community and Facility Fund.
Built on top of a swamp, rot, and roof leaks meant the hall was in desperate need of repairs, the hall was vital during fire emergencies
Functioning community hub
The Hall is a bustling community hub which hosts a range of events which includes:
- Badminton competitions
- Weddings and funerals
- Art shows
Large community gatherings including the annual Scout Jamboree is also included.
The extensive restoration project included replacing and repairing the deteriorating floor, ceiling, and roof so the venue can continue to meet the needs of the local community for years to come. The Labor Government's Community and Facility Fund has supported 232 community projects across the region to improve liveability, sustainability, and social connection.
Maintaining and upgrading community hall
Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing said, "We're pleased to support this wonderful restoration project - it has breathed new life into the Labertouche Community Hall to the benefit of its many local user groups and the broader community."
"Town halls are at the heart of our local communities - they provide a central hub for people to gather, play sport, celebrate and mourn together, so it's important we maintain and upgrade them so they can continue to bring people together for years to come."
