Community is invited to 2022 East Gippsland Youth Art Prize at Forge Theatre and Arts Hub in Bairnsdale
Members of the public are invited to join entrants of the 2022 East Gippsland Youth Art Prize at an official ceremony to announce the winners on Thursday, October 27 in Bairnsdale.
The Youth Art Prize was open to anyone aged 12 to 25 years living, working or studying in East Gippsland Shire. It encourages young people to be creative and acknowledges young artists and their talents. Now in its fifth year, entries cover a range of artistic mediums.
The official opening of the 2022 East Gippsland Youth Art Prize will be held on Thursday, October 27 from 4pm at the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub, 80 McKean Street, Bairnsdale
Celebrate young artists
East Gippsland Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Anthony Basford said the Youth Art Prize is a valuable experience for young artists. "The Youth Art Prize gives people experience in submitting a piece of work for judging, and having their work exhibited in a gallery either online or, like this year, in a public space."
"I encourage the community to come along to the official ceremony and help celebrate these young artists. We have some great talent in this region, as you'll see from this year's entries," Mr Basford said.
The official opening will be held on Thursday, October 27 from 4pm at the Forge Theatre and Arts Hub, 80 McKean Street, Bairnsdale. The exhibition will be open on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12 - 4pm until Thursday, November 17. The exhibition will be closed on Tuesday, November 1 due to the Melbourne Cup public holiday.
