The Erica Country Expo has been rescheduled to a new date due to ongoing public health concerns impacting the State. The Erica Country Expo will be a full day, family friendly and community led event. Attendees will enjoy a range of entertainment including wood chopping and chainsaw wood carving competitions, bike stunt shows, wine tastings and much more. Kids will be spoilt for choice with fun activities to explore including face painting, a petting zoo, rides, and entertainment shows.
Erica Country Expo was postponed and moved to a new date on 15 January 2022 that will be held at the Erica Recreational Reserve
Support to promote recovery
Mayor Cr Danny Goss said, "It is disappointing to see this event postponed, however it is understandable given the uncertainty surrounding fluctuating restrictions. This will be a one-of-a-kind event in Erica and Council looks forward to supporting its delivery on the new date. In the meantime, we will continue to engage with the local community to provide support and activities that promote the region in recovery."
Getting back from casualty
Deputy Mayor Cr Michael Leaney said, "Covid has had a huge impact on all parts of community life and the running of events has been a major casualty. The Walhalla Steampunk Gala was cancelled and sadly the Erica Country Expo has suffered the same fate. For a region of the shire that is extremely reliant on tourism and has been negatively affected by bushfires, flooding and Covid restrictions, this is another blow.
"Council is committed to these events and our remote communities, we hope that in 2022 we will be allowed to proceed so that everyone can enjoy these festivities," Cr Leaney said.
