We have a lot to offer in South Gippsland. From Wilsons Promontory to our fabulous eateries and accommodation spots, we have a lot to brag about, including the Great Southern Rail Trail. This magnificent trail is fast becoming one of the longest in the state, and once completed, will be one of the longest in Australia. To help tell everyone about it, the council is developing a Visitation and Marketing Plan.

The Great Southern rail trail is a council plan initiative and key Visitor Economy Strategy Action, that will be completed by 30 June 2022

Great Southern rail trail

The development of the Great Southern Rail Trail Visitation and Marketing Plan will aim to position the trail as a premier Australian rail trail experience and create strong links between the trail and its surrounding environments and towns.

The plan will guide how Council implements clear, audience-centric and motivating marketing, content and product enhancement activities to provide visitors with even more reasons to visit, stay longer and to visit all year round. Now, we want to hear from you about what you want to see included and if we are on the right track. To capture that feedback, we have a survey open now until 9.00am 4 April 2022.

To complete the survey, please visit the Great Southern rail trail web page.

Leongatha Early Learning Centre

Contractors will be commencing work at the Leongatha Early Learning Centre site on Monday 28 March in Gray Street, Leongatha. Traffic management will be in place and contractors will do their best to minimise disruption, however closure of the road for short periods during the day may occur. Detours will be in place if closures are required.

Leongatha Early Learning Centre will address the demand for children’s services in our region, particularly with the introduction of three-year-old kindergarten
