Baw Baw Shire Council appoints Cohen Van der Velde as Interim CEO during recruitment for permanent appointment
Baw Baw Shire Council has appointed Cohen Van der Velde as Interim CEO following Martin Hopley's leave, with Van der Velde serving until April 2025 while the recruitment for a permanent CEO begins.
Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the appointment of Cohen Van der Velde as the organisation's Interim Chief Executive Officer. Council voted to offer the temporary leadership role to Mr Van der Velde during this afternoon's confidential Council Meeting.

Interim CEO appointed
Martin Hopley, who was the Shire's Interim Chief Executive Officer, is currently on unplanned, personal leave. Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Danny Goss said Mr Van der Velde would step into the role while a comprehensive recruitment process for a new permanent Chief Executive Officer takes place.
"We thank Cohen for supporting us through this period and look forward to commencing the recruitment process for our new CEO," Cr Goss said. Mr Van der Velde has been appointed interim CEO until 16 April 2025.
