Martin Cameron offers Marsh/Tierney Scholarship 2024 for one Morwell high school student to adventure along the Kokoda Trail

The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, is offering a once-in-a-lifetime chance for one high school student living in the Morwell electorate to join him and other Members of Parliament on a trip to trek the Kokoda Trail. The Marsh/Tierney Scholarship is an opportunity for one lucky Year 11 student to join an 'Adventure Kokoda' trip in the July school holidays.

The $6300 Marsh/Tierney Scholarship offers insight into Gippsland's Kokoda Trail connection, including training and chaperoned trek, with additional $600-800 expenses for gear and incidentals

Mr Cameron said, "The Marsh/Tierney Scholarship, worth $6300, provides our younger generation with an insight into the Gippsland connection to the Kokoda Trail, and the sacrifices made by men from this area."

"The successful applicant will be assisted with training and chaperoned on the trek. In addition to the scholarship, there will be around an $600-800 commitment required from participants for items like hiking boots, some incidentals and medical expenses. Details of the trek and information on the application process can be obtained from my office, and I encourage any Year 11 students interested to think about applying for this amazing opportunity," he said.

The application process involves a questionnaire and short essay, and those short-listed will also be required to attend a short in-person interview with current or ex-service personnel.
