Federal and state ministers visited South Gippsland after advocacy trip to Canberra
Federal and state ministers visited South Gippsland to discuss key issues, including renewable energy and regional development, council advocated for improvements and hopes for increased cooperation.
We were pleased to host a visit from Federal and State Ministers this week. The visit followed on from a recent advocacy trip to Canberra by Mayor Nathan Hersey, Deputy Mayor Clare Williams and Chief Executive Officer Kerryn Ellis.

Projects, advocacy and cooperation
The Honourable Kristy McBain, Minister for Regional Development, Local Government and Territories and the Honourable Melissa Horne, Minister for Local Government, Minister for Roads and Road Safety, Minister for Ports and Freight visited South Gippsland to talk about key issues impacting the South Gippsland community. This included discussions surrounding renewable energy and securing better engagement with residents, as well as transport and regional development.
Also discussed were council's priority road projects, namely the Leongatha Heavy Vehicle Alternative Route Stage Two and South Gippsland Highway Realignment, Korumburra. Council is continually advocating for improvements to our region that will see tangible results for our future and increased economic diversity. South Gippsland was pleased to host the visit and hopes that the increased cooperation between different levels of government will help us to achieve good outcomes for our region.
