Community feedback sought on draft 2023-2026 Bass Coast Communications and Engagement Strategy opens by 6 January 2023
Bass Coast Shire Council invites the community for final feedback on the draft 2023-2026 Communications and Engagement Strategy.
The consultation period is open from Friday, 18 November 2022 until Saturday, 6 January 2023 and will include both online and in-person opportunities to provide feedback. Once feedback is reviewed, the final document will be considered by council for adoption in early 2023. The strategy has been guided by the community and sets a strong foundation for what council will prioritise as key communications and engagement activities.
Community can provide feedback draft 2023-2026 Communications and Engagement Strategy from 18 November until 6 January 2023
Engaging with community
From February to May 2022 council engaged with community members with opportunities to provide input into the development of the strategy through multiple in-person and online forums. Council held 7 pop up listening posts across Bass Coast, received 109 completed surveys, and reached out to targeted community groups.
In these discussions we asked when, why, how and where our community wanted us to communicate with them, and what content they were interested in. We also included feedback from 38 submissions received during the Community Engagement Policy consultation in 2021.
"How council communicates and engages with our community, businesses and visitors is at the heart of the new Communications and Engagement Strategy," said Bass Coast Shire Council Mayor, Cr Whelan.
Modernising information services
Cr Whelan also said, "This strategy seeks to modernise the way council provides information that is important to our community and stakeholders, to create opportunities for everyone to be involved. We are committed to communicate and engage in a way that is welcoming, safe, inclusive, culturally appropriate and supports the diversity plus uniqueness of our community."
"We also strive to communicate in a way that is accessible, responsive and open - to encourage ongoing partnerships with our community. Ultimately, we seek to build and maintain transparent, open communications about council's activities, initiatives and projects. The strategy demonstrates the council's commitment and drive to making a difference to the lives of everyone who lives, works and visits our region."
