Jam Jerrup drainage upgrades along Foreshore Road
Bass Coast Shire Council will carry out drainage renewal works along Foreshore Road in Jam Jerrup in August.
Work is expected to begin in early August and take around four weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather conditions. This $70,000 project is supported by the Victorian Government through the Distinctive Areas and Landscapes Capital Funding Program 2019/2020.

Minimising stormwater runoffs
This project is part of a partnership with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning and Council. The Department has recently completed seawall protection works at Jam Jerrup.
The aim of this project is to minimise stormwater runoff flowing across the newly constructed seawall embankments and to improve the quality of road stormwater runoff and direct the stormwater flow along Foreshore Road, to discharge at the outfall.
Soakage pit installation
The project will include the installation of a new stormwater drainage pit at Bay Road intersection and the re-alignment of existing stormwater property outlets as required, as well as the installation of a soakage pit.
Soakage pits are a water sensitive urban design mechanism that rely on the stormwater principles of retention and filtration. Soakage Pits are located at the end of a stormwater drainage network, buried underground and out of sight.
The soakage pits collect the incoming storm water and store it, while the water slowly percolates into the surrounding ground through a filtration process. This means that water is directed off the surface and stored underground where it slowly seeps into the earth.
Safety measures will be in place
Traffic and pedestrian measures will be in place throughout the duration of the works. Road users may experience minor delays. Every effort will be made to minimise disruptions.
