Green Waste Amnesty
Our annual Green Waste Amnesty is now open and runs until 31 December 2022. This is a great opportunity to get rid of your green waste at any of council's transfer stations.
It is held every year to encourage you to prepare your property for the fire season by removing potential fire hazards. To see what plant species are not accepted as green waste and more information on the amnesty, please visit Green Waste Amnesty page.

Christmas drive
South Gippsland Shire Council and Leongatha Salvation Army are joining forces to help those in need this Christmas, and we are looking for food and toy donations. As requested by the Salvation Army, please do not wrap gifts. This allows parents to choose gifts for their child's unique personalities and interests. Please feel free to include wrapping paper or a gift bag for parents.
The drop-off location is at council reception, and the Customer Service team at SGSC has a lovely Christmas tree set up, ready to house any food and toy donations. Please drop off your donations by 7 December.
Christmas is coming near, come and join the South Gippsland Shire Christmas Drive!
Sound of your town Leongatha
Mama Kin Spender and our "Six Week Singers" took to the stage at Leongatha Memorial Hall on Friday 28 October. The 25-strong choir joined Mama Kin on stage after six weeks of hard work learning the songs in preparation for the big night.
A couple of members of the choir included our very own South Gippsland Shire Mayor Mohya Davies and husband John who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Melbourne-based guitarist Tommy Spender and choir leader Virginia Botts were also part of the 'Sound of Your Town' project, a Regional Arts Victoria initiative.
Sound of Your Town Leongatha is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and unmissable for music fans, local choirs and their families
