Have your say on possible shared path for Foster by 11 September 2022
South Gippsland Shire Council has obtained funding by the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) local government grants program to investigate a possible shared path along Station Road, Foster.
The shared path, which will run between Pearl Park and the Great Southern Rail Trail, will aim to help keep people safe as they walk or cycle in the area. This location has been selected because it provides a direct connection between the Great Southern Rail Trail and the heart of Foster, as well as providing opportunities to connect with other important locations in the town.
Improvements identified during the Foster Shared Path consultation may be subject to further funding and approval by South Gippsland Council and the TAC

Council is seeking your feedback to help inform the development of concept designs that will improve the safety, security and amenity for pedestrians and cyclists, whilst also considering current and future demand of residents. To have your say before Sunday 11 September 2022, please visit

South Gippsland Shire Council Manager Infrastructure Planning, Tony Peterson "Providing safe walking and cycling is important to South Gippsland Shire Council and is contained in our Road Safety Strategy. We believe that connections like this are vital to the health and sustainability of our region.

Improving safety
South Gippsland Shire Council Mayor, Mohya Davies said, "This is a great opportunity for our community to have their say on what solution would be best for Foster."
"I believe this path would go a long way to improving the safety of those enjoying one of our biggest tourist drawcards, the Great Southern Rail Trail. I also see how it would be beneficial for residents to be more active and enjoy a walk into town to support our local businesses." Mayor Davies said.
