Kellie O'Callaghan elected as Mayor and Dan Clancey as Deputy Mayor for Latrobe City Council in 2021/22

New Mayor and Deputy Mayor have been elected.

Cr Kellie O'Callaghan has been elected Mayor, and Cr Dan Clancey elected as Deputy Mayor following a Council Meeting held at the Council Chamber in Morwell on Monday evening. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor will serve a full 12-month term in these roles until November 2022. Cr Graeme Middlemiss also nominated for the role of Mayor, while Cr Melissa Ferguson nominated for the role of Deputy Mayor.

Focusing on the future growth and prosperity

Latrobe City Council Mayor Cr Kellie O'Callaghan said, "It's an honour to lead council over the coming year as we move through the challenges of COVID-19 to focus on the future growth and prosperity of Gippsland's regional city. We are committed to driving the transformation of our region's industries and will continue to work towards becoming a thriving hub of innovation, technology and education."

"There is so much that we have to look forward to in 2022 as we deliver the recently adopted council plan and community vision, continue to engage with our community and demonstrate high levels of accountability to everyone we represent."

"I look forward to working with our diverse communities to bring new ideas to the table, to ensure that your voices are heard and understood and to make Latrobe City Council the best it can be."

Seek opportunities to attract new investment

Latrobe City Council Deputy Mayor Cr Dan Clancey said, "I'd like to thank the Councillors for the opportunity to be elected as Deputy Mayor of Latrobe City Council. As a council, we're working to position our city as an excellent place to live, work and invest through our new council plan and community vision.

"Over the next year we will continue to actively seek opportunities to attract new investment to the region, advocate for the infrastructure and services we need and enhance the liveability of our communities - both large and small." Deputy Mayor Cr Dan Clancey said.
