Bairnsdale Airport gets $1.5M upgrade from Regional Airports Program by Darren Chester
Upgrading Bairnsdale Airport remains a high priority after securing $1.5 million from the Regional Airports Program.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says upgrading Bairnsdale Airport remains a high priority after securing $1.5 million from the Regional Airports Program. The funding will improve facilities for patient transfers and emergency medical activities at the airport, and is on top of the $9 million previously announced for runway infrastructure improvements.
Darren Chester said upgrading the Bairnsdale Airport was a high priority after securing funding through the Regional Airports Program
Meeting the aviation needs
Mr Chester said, "The Bairnsdale Airport is operated by East Gippsland Shire and I will continue to work with the Council to source funding for significant upgrades to meet our region's aviation needs. During times of crisis, like the Black Summer bushfires, the airport was critical for movement of personnel and essential supplies."
"This latest $1.5 million will assist the ongoing redevelopment to upgrade facilities for locals and visitors to our region and provide better services in medical emergencies." Mr Chester said.
