East Gippsland Council approves residential village at 19 Lomandra Boulevard, Lucknow, improving affordability and addressing concerns
East Gippsland Shire Council approves a residential village at 19 Lomandra Boulevard, Lucknow, addressing community concerns and boosting affordable housing for smaller households with access to essential services.
A new residential village at 19 Lomandra Boulevard, Lucknow, will proceed following a decision by East Gippsland Shire Council. The decision by Council on 17 December 2024 follows a request for an amended development plan, and three rounds of community consultation conducted between July 2023 and November 2024.

Community housing approval
Mayor John White said some community members had raised concerns about increased traffic, management of road layout via Sheoak View and Myrtle Place, building standards, amenity, and increased density.
"The proposal we considered has addressed these concerns. The decision to approve the residential village also includes conditions to address the termination of Mrytle Place and to lock in the building designs and standards," John said.
"Council and our planning team are committed to supporting well-planned developments that balance community needs with growth and sustainability. This outcome delivers on that commitment," said Mr White.
Affordable housing proposal
Mr White added, "It is a significant step forward in addressing housing affordability and provides a much-needed option for smaller households while ensuring access to essential services and community connections. Affordable living like this can strengthen our community."
The residential village is expected to play a key role in increasing housing supply, particularly for smaller households, while enhancing affordability. Its location ensures residents will benefit from reasonable access to public transport, education, health, social and community services, and employment opportunities.
