Bass Coast Shire Council and community groups celebrate Volunteer Week, May 20-26, 2024, highlighting diverse volunteers. With nearly 20% of residents volunteering, Bass Coast thrives on their contributions.
Bass Coast Shire Council, along with many community groups and dedicated individuals are thrilled to be celebrating Volunteer Week from 20 to 26 May this year. With the theme for 2024 being 'something for everyone', Council is delighted to be showcasing a range of brilliant people who make our community thrive.

Celebrating community volunteers
Mayor Clare Le Serve said, "As Mayor of Bass Coast Shire Council I would like to extend our sincerest thanks to all the incredible volunteers who make up our community. Communities cannot run without volunteers. This is the spirit that keeps our places and communities vibrant, healthy and connected. We want to recognise the diverse passions and talents everyone brings to the act of volunteering" she said.
From young to old, from individuals to those who make up groups - Bass Coast proudly has a community that thrives from the work from volunteers who make this region sparkle and shine that little bit more.
Bass Coast has a large range of community and not for profit organisations and an enormous number of volunteers. The last CENSUS proudly shows our region as having a higher than average number of volunteers, with nearly 20% volunteering. Here are some of the 6000 people who volunteer in our community.

18 May, Berninneit - Grant Gathering
The Grant Gathering brought together Bass Coast funding organisations, community groups and experts for a collaborative and insightful day to share information sharing, new opportunities, and strengthen collective impact across the Shire.
30 May, Berninneit - 2024 Bass Coast Community Awards
The Bass Coast Community Awards recognise and celebrate outstanding individuals or groups who consistently go above and beyond in their contribution to the Bass Coast community.
