East Gippsland Rail Trail gets sealing and surface upgrades by local firm Cranes Asphalting
Funding for works on the rail trail from Bairnsdale to Orbost.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says East Gippsland Rail Trail sealing and surface upgrades will be a boost for locals and visitors. Mr Chester said the Federal Government was providing the bulk of the funding for more than $3 million worth of works on the popular 100km trail from Bairnsdale to Orbost.
Improving safety and the trail experience of cyclists and walkers will be the focus of works and will also be supporting future funding bids
Rail trails are growing in popularity around the world and the East Gippsland experience of almost 100 kilometres between Bairnsdale and Orbost can drive future growth in the visitor economy. Local firm Cranes Asphalting was undertaking sealing work on the trail near Nicholson last week along with major surface and drainage upgrades near Bruthen.
