Feedback wanted on Baw Baw Shire Road Safety Strategy by 12 May 2023
Baw Baw Shire Council seeks public input to improve road safety via a review of its Road Safety Strategy, aiming for zero annual deaths by 2050. Feedback can be given on a renewed draft.
Baw Baw Shire Council is undertaking a review and update of its Road Safety Strategy and encouraging all road users to share their feedback and experiences to help improve road safety throughout the Shire. The ultimate goal of the Road Safety Strategy is to achieve zero annual deaths on Baw Baw Shire roads by 2050. It aims to do so by understanding how and where road incidents occur and how best these can be managed to improve the safety for all drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
Council has chosen to adopt Vision Zero as its road safety target, a road safety strategy that aims to eliminate all deaths and serious injuries on the roads
Council plan and strategy
A renewed draft strategy has been developed and is now available for community review and feedback. It has been developed using local crash data, reviews of road safety practices from around the world and input from road safety experts.
How to share your feedback
Prior to submitting feedback, all community members are invited to download and review the Draft Road Safety Strategy and associated Draft Action Plan. Feedback is welcomed via a short online survey on council's website - Help improve road safety in Baw Baw page or by emailing CivilAsset.Planning@bawbawshire.vic.gov.au

Road safety strategy
Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said, "It is well understood by council and residents of Baw Baw Shire that we have more and more vehicles and pedestrians using our roads each day and we all play a crucial role in maintaining the safety for all our road users."
Our Draft Road Safety Strategy and associated Action Plan details where the risks lie within our roads and how best these can be minimised with the goal of eliminating all deaths and serious injuries. We're inviting all residents to provide us with their feedback on these important documents via email or the short survey on council's website," Ms McCabe said.
