Have your say on draft Fenced Dog Park Plan for Latrobe City by 21 June 2023
Council has endorsed the Draft Fenced Dog Park Implementation Plan for public consultation, prioritising and delivering fenced dog parks based on guidelines and assessments of potential sites, and inviting community feedback.
Latrobe City Council endorsed the release of the Draft Fenced Dog Park Implementation Plan for public consultation at the most recent Council Meeting. The Draft Fenced Dog Park Implementation Plan is based on the Latrobe City Fenced Dog Guidelines 2021 and outlines how council will prioritise and deliver fenced dog parks across the municipality, subject to future funding availability. Council has undertaken detailed assessments on 34 potential sites across the municipality using the criteria outlined in the Fenced Dog Guidelines.
The Draft Fenced Dog Park Implementation Plan is open for review and submissions until June 21, 2023
Prioritised dog park locations
Locations were prioritised based on current dog registrations per town, community enquiries since 2018 and responses from a 2018 survey. Mayor of Latrobe City Council, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan invited all community members to make a submission and have their say about the location of future dog parks in Latrobe City.
"With the growth of new residential areas within Latrobe City, the demand for public space for dog exercise is increasing. Our community continues to highlight the opportunities to expand social interaction with other like-minded people in an outdoor environment including spaces such as dog parks," said the Mayor.
The plan is now open for public consultation until Wednesday 21 June 2023 at 5pm. Members of the public can have their say online at Draft Fenced Dog Park Implementation Plan page.
