Join Baw Baw Shire YouthFest jam-packed line up of free and low-cost fun from 25 - 29 September 2023
Registration may be required for limited-space events for Baw Baw's YouthFest 2023 offers a 5-day lineup of free and affordable activities for youth aged 12-25.
Baw Baw's young people are invited to join the 2023 YouthFest celebrations with a jam-packed line up of free and low-cost fun in store. Starting Monday 25 September, the 5-day long festival includes a variety of activities catering to youths aged 12 - 25 years.
Previously Youth Week, the Baw Baw Youth Festival 2023 spans September school holidays, from September 25th to 29th, offering exciting activities for friends to enjoy
YouthFest program line-up
Here's a preview of what's in store:
- Dance Fitness Teens - Dance classes suitable for beginners. Encourages attendees to enjoy dancing to uplifting, fun music
- Auslan awareness session - Organised by Myli Library Warragul, attendees will learn Auslan, the sign language of the Australian Deaf community
- Sports workshop series with Gippsport - An opportunity to try different types of sports including, soccer, football and frisbee
- Online writing group - an online group for teens to share stories, poems and other forms of writing and gain inspiration from one another
- Street art workshops - a guided session with an artist who will help attendees create their own art piece to take home
- Planting and woodwork workshops - Organised by Warragul Community College, attendees will learn how to use hand and battery-operated tools
- Track cycling lessons - Organised by AusCycling, attendees will have a guided session trying out track cycling on the velodrome
Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe says this year's activities are designed to support the Shire's young people to stay active and spark new interests during the term break.
Avoid missing out
Ms McCabe said, "We've got a huge schedule of activities in store as part of our YouthFest line up this year. It's a great way for our younger people to try some new activities with their friends and make new connections over the school holidays. I encourage anyone interested to check out the schedule and make sure to book ahead to avoid missing out".
