Protecting agricultural resources
The control program across roadsides in Wellington Shire will assist in the reduction of spread of blackberry into adjacent farmland and conservation areas, helping to protect key agricultural resources and important natural assets.
There has been extensive growth of blackberries across Wellington Shire due to high rainfall throughout last year. Council is responding to this by increasing its control efforts. Blackberry infestations will continue to be monitored throughout summer.
