Baw Baw Shire Council meeting snapshot - 28 July 2022
To keep our community up to date with key council decisions, outcomes and plans; here is a snapshot summary from council's Wednesday 27 July council meeting.
Council received a petition requesting that the Coromandel Arboretum at 426 East West Road, Warragul, be retained as a public park in the Warragul Precinct Structure Plan. Council noted the petition, signed by a total of 390 signatories, in accordance with council's governance rules, including that additional signatures have been collected online. A report will be presented to council on this matter no later than four council meetings. The lead petitioner will be advised of the council meeting date that the Officer response will be presented.
Council meetings are held at the West Gippsland Arts Centre (Fountain Room) at 5:30pm on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month
Planning and development
Planning Application PLA0222/21 - 16 Orchard Court, Drouin
Council moved to issue Notice of Decision to Grant a Planning Permit for Planning Application PLA0222/21 (16 Orchard Court, Drouin)
Planning Scheme Amendment C144 - Flood Mapping - Post Exhibition
Council, having considered all submissions made on the Baw Baw Planning Scheme Amendment C144 in accordance with Section 22 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987 (the Act), in its role as Planning Authority, noted the submissions made by the community and resolved to defer a decision on the submissions to the Planning Scheme Amendment to a future council meeting, no later than 28 September 2022.
Council will work with the relevant stakeholders to schedule a public meeting on the matter to hear community concerns and conduct further community consultation for a period of four weeks. Council will advise the submitters, the Minister for Planning, Melbourne Water and the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority of its decision.
Planning Application PLA0075/21 - 85 Yuulong Road, Drouin South
Council moved to issue Notice of Decision to Refuse to Grant a Planning Permit for Planning Application PLA0075/21 (85 Yuulong Road, Drouin South).

Council also noted Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member Theresa Glab's resignation and thanked Theresa for her five years of service on the Committee. Recruitment is in progress for a new Independent Audit and Risk Committee Member.
Draft governance rules
Council endorsed the proposed changes to Baw Baw Shire Council's Governance Rules and will commence consultation on the Draft Governance Rules for a period of three weeks, from Friday 29 July to Friday 19 August 2022, in accordance with council's Community Engagement Policy.
