Cemetery expansion project
This project is being funded by council in the amount of $130,000 as part of the Capital Works program 2022/2023. The works are expected to commence late March 2023 and will take approximately 4-5 weeks to complete, subject to favourable weather, contractor availability and material supply.
The aim of this project is to provide additional plots at the cemetery. The works will include, but are not limited to, ground preparation, lawn beam construction and creating a temporary access road that will be upgraded at the completion of further stages. During the works, there will be some minor vegetation removal along the southern boundary of the cemetery closest to the access road of Wonthaggi Transfer Station for drain works.
The contractor will make every effort to minimise disruptions to cemetery visitors, cemetery workers, funeral services, and surrounding residents. The community, residents, businesses, and other stakeholders will be kept up to date with the project via council's website and onsite QR code sign, where appropriate. For your safety and others, please be mindful that this will be a construction zone. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this time.
