Sarsfield and Ensay get $5.9M funding for additional community projects from the Black Summer bushfires program
Member for Gippsland Darren Chester says two additional community projects worth $5.9 million will receive funding to support the ongoing recovery from the Black Summer bushfires.
Mr Chester has welcomed the decision by the Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce to support funding applications from Sarsfield ($3.6 million) and Ensay ($2.3 million) to redevelop recreation reserve facilities into hubs for community events and improved disaster resilience.

Victory for fire-impacted community
Mr Chester said, "This is a common sense outcome and a victory for these fire-impacted community groups. I have been working with the community groups and the Deputy Prime Minister's office to have the projects properly and fairly assessed."
"The Sarsfield and Ensay recreation reserve projects were recommended as being meritorious for consideration as a Community Development Grant (CDG). I want to thank the Deputy Prime Minister's office for working in a professional and constructive manner to deliver a fair outcome for East Gippslanders. Make no mistake, these grants would not have been secured without the Deputy Prime Minister's support." Mr Chester said.
