Exemption to current travel restrictions in South Gippsland available to those needing to carry out summer fire preparation activities
Travel permit applications that take between 2 - 5 business days to process, if sufficient time is not allowed for processing, this will result in your application being rejected.
Victorians who need to travel to carry out summer fire preparation activities can apply to Council for an exemption to current travel restrictions.If the exemption is approved, property owners - or their nominated representatives - may be able to travel to complete preparation activities subject to the conditions of their exemption.
Under an exemption to the current Chief Health Officer (CHO) Directions, an owner of a property, or a nominated representative, will be allowed to travel to their property to undertake fire preparedness work
Travel exemption holders
Exemption holders will be able to travel for a specified period of up to 72 hours to carry out preparation works. You must return to your primary place of residence within this timeframe. The 72 hours will start from 12.00 midnight on the first day of the exemption. To find out more or to apply, please visit South Gippsland Shire travel exemptions.
