Latrobe Valley residents encouraged to complete cost of living survey to show they face highest power bills in Victoria
Latrobe Valley residents face highest power bills in Victoria, demanding immediate action from Andrews Labor government, says Nationals' Martin Cameron, amid financial struggles and tax concerns.
Latrobe Valley residents are paying the highest combined power bills in Victoria, and the Andrews Labor Government must act now to provide financial relief, according to The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron. The St Vincent de Paul Society's tariff tracker reveals Valley households are being gouged, on average, $4425 per year for gas and electricity - the most in the state and an increase of more than $800 from last year.

Power price surge
The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, said the monumental surge in power prices was another cost of living hit for those who could least afford it. "The stark reality is that many people are having trouble keeping up with their bills and they're being forced to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table."
"Instead of providing the relief that Victorians need, the Andrews Government has just introduced its 50th new or increased tax in a desperate attempt to raise revenue because of its own financial incompetence. A $250 Power Saving Bonus offered by the Andrews Government does precious little to take the edge off for families who are paying $4425 per year for gas and electricity," he said.

Mr Cameron added, "Daniel Andrews is happy to sit idly by as people suffer because of his government's economic mismanagement. Labor is failing Victorians, people are struggling to afford the basic necessities, and something has to give," he said.
The Nationals are seeking to better understand the impacts of tax increases and cost of living on regional Victorians. To have your say, complete the quick survey at The Nationals for Regional Victoria website via Cost of living survey page.
