Martin Cameron helps St Vincent De Paul Society in Traralgon distribute food and gifts amidst rising hardships
Martin Cameron visited Traralgon St Vincent De Paul Society, distributing food and gifts amid the cost-of-living crisis, highlighting the government's inadequate response.
The Nationals Member for Morwell, Martin Cameron, has visited the St Vincent De Paul Society's Assistance Centre in Traralgon in the lead up to this year's festive season. Mr Cameron helped deliver food hampers and presents for the rising number of people doing things tough this Christmas as Victorians grapple with the cost-of-living crisis.
Martin Cameron criticises the government's response to the cost-of-living crisis, he emphasised community support and urged assistance for Vinnies' volunteer efforts
Economic struggles persist
Mr Cameron said, "The cost of living is continuing to rise and at an alarming rate, impacting not only local residents but also small businesses. The Labor government is not doing enough to provide residents and businesses with the necessary financial relief, and that's abundantly clear at this time of year."
"With the help of our wonderful community organisations and volunteers at Vinnies, we can slowly chip away and supply those in need with food relief as Victorians continue to struggle to make ends meet," he said.
Holiday hampers shared
Mr Cameron also said, "I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to deliver hampers and presents at the St Vincent De Paul Society's Assistance Centre in Traralgon, where I was able to watch people walk away with a smile on their faces and some Christmas goodies for themselves and their families."
"Vinnies are under immense pressure with volunteer shortages and large workloads, so if you can spare some time or resources to aid such a noble cause, reach out to the team to find out how you can make an impact. I want to say a massive thank you to the wonderful volunteers at Vinnies who prepared the hampers and allowed me to be a part of the day," Mr Cameron said.
