Darren Chester to proudly contest the seat of Gippsland in federal election on 21 May 2022
The Prime Minister has called a Federal election for May 21 and I will be contesting the seat of Gippsland.
The past three years have been challenging for our region with the combined impacts of drought, bushfires, storms, floods and the coronavirus pandemic. I couldn't be prouder of the way our region has responded and I want to thank everyone who has helped our community. From the emergency service personnel, defence force and healthcare workers to farmers, truck drivers, teachers and energy industry crews. So many people have contributed to keeping our economy and community safe, and functioning properly.
Mr Chester's plan is to keep working, to make our community the best place in regional Australia to live, work, visit and raise a family
Commitment to Gippsland
I want to use my experience as your local Member of Parliament to keep building a safer, stronger, fairer Gippsland, where everyone can get ahead. I have a proven track record of fighting for our region to deliver the services and infrastructure we need.
By working with the community, I've been able to deliver record funding for large and small projects, major improvements to local services, bushfire recovery grants, and given our region a strong voice on local and national issues.
I love Gippsland and I'm proud to have raised my family in our beautiful part of the world. We need to keep putting locals first, supporting one another, and building an even better Gippsland.
