Community feedback wanted for Baw Baw Shire Council Community Local Laws by 28 March 2024

Baw Baw Shire Council seeks input on its Community Local Law via online and in-person sessions across the region. Feedback will inform updates to enhance community safety and address emerging issues.

Baw Baw Shire Council is reviewing its Community Local Law and we want you to have your say, your way! The Community Local Law guides council's compliance and enforcement activities for a wide range of topics, including property amenity, construction sites and the keeping of animals. By undertaking a review of the Community Local Law, council can ensure it is meeting current community expectations while also protecting our residents, assets and facilities.

Baw Baw Shire Council is doing a review of its Community Local Law, and you are invited to have your say, your way! Complete the survey or making a written submission by 28 March 2024

Community feedback sessions

We would like your feedback on this local law and also invite you to share your ideas on other issues you think we should explore. Feedback from this initial round of consultation will help us consider emerging issues and ensure the local law is relevant.

Council will host a series of community pop-up sessions across the Shire, to give everyone the chance to have their say in person, as well as online. These sessions will kick off on 2 March and run until the end of the month, with the community engagement closing on Thursday 28 March.

Community law consultation

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said the Community Local Law review was an important engagement piece, which gives council an opportunity to better understand community needs and expectations and deliver more value for our residents. "By taking a look at our Community Local Law we have an ideal chance to tap into the thoughts and ideas of our residents and ensure we're in touch with what they want and need."

"The purpose of this local law is to keep our community safe, and as you can see from the number of community consultation sessions we're holding this month, we really want to hear from as many people as possible and give our community a genuine chance to inform council decision making and processes," Cr McCabe said.
