Southern Rural Water begins a three-year program to replace four regulator gates, enhancing reliability and security
Southern Rural Water is replacing four outdated regulator gates in the Macalister Irrigation District to improve reliability, water security, and reduce maintenance, starting a three-year replacement program.
Work is underway to replace several regulator gates in the Macalister Irrigation District. Regulator gates are a critical component of Southern Rural Water's irrigation network in the Macalister. They measure and control the amount of water passing through channels to ensure customers receive the water they have ordered.

Upgrade gates improvement
Southern Rural Water is replacing four regulator gates in the Macalister Irrigation District that are no longer fit-for-purpose. These gates are the first to be replaced as part of a rolling, three-year replacement program. Macalister Irrigation District Program Lead Matt Weatherall said the regulator gates will be replaced based on their condition and location in the channel network and in time for the start of the irrigation season.
"The new regulator gates would improve reliability to customers, improve water security and reduce maintenance costs," Matt said. McInnes Earthmoving is undertaking the works on behalf of Southern Rural Water.
