Free kerbside collection of storm waste in Bass Coast Shire from 22 to 29 April 2024 by Emergency Recovery Victoria

Residents in the most severely storm impacted area of Bass Coast can benefit from an additional kerbside debris collection. Bass Coast Shire Council, in partnership with Emergency Recovery Victoria, is pleased to announce a free kerbside collection service for storm waste following the February storm event. This is the last opportunity to have free waste collection and aims to assist residents in clearing storm debris safely and efficiently.

Storm waste collection

The collection period will run from 22nd to 29th April, providing residents with a convenient opportunity to dispose of storm-related waste. Emergency Recovery Victoria contractors will be collecting storm debris directly from the kerbside, eliminating the need for residents to transport the waste themselves.

To participate in the free kerbside collection, residents are encouraged to place storm waste neatly on the kerbside within the highlighted areas as indicated on the map provided. Unlike other collection initiatives, there is no need to call and register for this service.

In addition to the kerbside collection, Bass Coast Shire Council is offering free storm waste disposal at the tips until 30th April for residents who prefer to transport their waste personally.

Community support initiative

Bass Coast Mayor Cr Le Serve encourages residents to reach out to neighbours if they require help in getting their storm waste to the kerbside. "This joint initiative not only helps in cleaning up our communities but also fosters a spirit of solidarity and support among neighbours which we have seen over the past couple of months." Cr Le Serve emphasised.

Residents are reminded to ensure that only storm-related waste is placed for collection and to follow any guidelines provided by council for safe and efficient disposal.
