East Gippsland Libraries join Libraries Victoria network, expanding member access to shared collections statewide
East Gippsland Shire libraries now belong to the Libraries Victoria network, giving members access to nearly one million items statewide, expanding borrowing options, and making it easier to find what you need.
East Gippsland Shire libraries have joined the Libraries Victoria network - which means your borrowing options just got an upgrade. From 1 July, library members can search and reserve items from a network of shared library collections across Victoria, directly from our online catalogue or app. Whether you're after a bestselling novel, a hard-to-find DVD, or something quirky for the kids, chances are it's now just a few clicks away.
Joining Libraries Victoria brings new opportunities for learning, discovery and entertainment, giving everyone greater free access, wherever they live
Libraries Victoria access
Once you place a hold, your item will travel across the state and arrive at your local branch, service centre or mobile library in about two weeks. There are a few limits - for example, newly released items, picture books and board books won't be available to borrow, but with nearly one million items to explore, you won't run out of options anytime soon.
Mayor Cr John White says this new chapter is a big win for locals. "Joining the Libraries Victoria network opens up a whole new world of learning, discovery, and entertainment for our community. Whether you live in one of our towns or use the mobile library service, you'll now have access to so much more - free of charge"
Your current library card now works at all 29 participating libraries. So, if you're travelling, visiting family or exploring Victoria, you can borrow on the go. Your library membership still gives you priority access to our local collection, and if you can't find what you're looking for, you can still submit a purchase request or request an interlibrary loan. For more information, visit your local branch or speak with a staff member.
