Melina Bath calls out for nappy donations via Nappy Collective to help struggling Gippsland families

To address nappy stress caused by rising living costs, Melina Bath supports collecting spare nappies for local families in need, partnering with The Nappy Collective to redistribute donations to charities.

Cost of living pressures are hitting families hard with one in ten families now struggling to afford nappies for their babies and toddlers according to new research data. To help local families experiencing nappy stress, The Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria Region, Melina Bath is supporting the collection of donated spare nappies. Ms Bath electoral office is a Nappy Collective collection point and all nappies collected through her office will be passed onto charities in eastern Victoria to assist local families in need.

Support the Nappy Collective

The Nappy Collective is a not for profit initiative that supports babies and toddlers experiencing disadvantage by collecting donations of new and leftover nappies, for the redistribution to families in crisis. The Nappy Collective recently stated that nappy stress is worsening as cost of living pressures continue to rise in Victoria, reporting nappy stress has worsened by at least 12%.

Ms Bath said any donations of unused, leftover disposable nappies will be gratefully accepted and will help to address nappy stress locally. "Often families have leftover sizes that their baby or toddler has grown out of laying around the house, donating them is a wonderful way to help out local families in need and clean out the cupboard."

Ms Bath also said, "New boxes of new nappies are also accepted if a donor's budget can accommodate this. The cost of nappies to a household budget adds in the vicinity of $50 a week, with newborns needing on average 12 changes a day, and toddlers six to eight changes a day."

"This program helps families struggling financially and experiencing bill stress, so they don't have to decide whether to put food on the table, heat their home or change their child's nappy. The Nappy Collective is a worthwhile cause that provides practical support to families in our community, and I sincerely thank any individual or community group who can assist me with donations," Ms Bath said.
