Wellington Shire 2025 Community Assistance Grants offering funding to support local groups, apply from 9 January to 4 March 2025
Applications for Wellington Shire Community Assistance Grants (CAGs) are open, offering $2,501 - $6,000 to support local projects, events, and initiatives. Apply by 4 March 2025.
Applications are now open for the latest round of Community Assistance Grants (CAGs), offering funding between $2,501 -$6,000 to eligible not-for-profit community groups in Wellington Shire. CAGs aim to build community capacity and liveability by:
- Encouraging participation and inclusion
- Growing community partnerships
- Providing learning opportunities
- Supporting health, wellbeing and connection to our community
- Activating our community spaces such as parks, halls and other facilities
Grants are available for many community activities, initiatives and projects that benefit the Wellington Shire community, these may include local events and festivals, committee planning, community facility infrastructure improvements and funding for equipment needs.

Community grants awarded
As part of Wellington Shire Council's August 2024 Community Assistance Grant program, council allocated more than $126,000 of funding to 23 different projects, events and initiatives across Wellington Shire. Last year's recipients included (but are not limited too):
- Rotary Club of Yarram
- Yarram Says No to Family Violence Campaign
- Maffra Business and Tourism Association
- Maffra Christmas Festival
- Sale Memorial Hall Youth and Civic Centre
- Kitchen upgrade
- Port Albert Progress Association
- Easter Sunday Family Fun Day and Lantern Festival
- Heyfield Golf Club
Installation of new sprinkler system and Cowwarr Football Netball Club; concrete works for netball interchange area.
Grants spur creativity
Wellington Shire Council Mayor, Cr Scott Rossetti said that Community Assistance Grants are a fantastic way to bring local ideas to life. "Each year, we're excited by the creativity and impact of the applications, and I strongly encourage local community groups to make the most of this fantastic opportunity." Cr Rossetti said.
Council's Community Assistance Grant program is open between 9 January 2025 and 4 March 2025. Community groups looking for funding and wishing to apply should visit Wellington Shire - Community grants website to view guidelines and assessment criteria and to access an application form.
Quick grants available
In conjunction with the current Community Assistance Grants program, council also offers Quick Response Grants throughout the year. Quick Response Grants are open all year round and applications are made available for not-for-profit community groups looking for funding of up to $2,500.
