Little hands will be clapping and toes will be tapping thanks to a free program of music activities for children aged 18 months to 3 years at West Gippsland Arts Centre (WGAC). Baw Baw Shire Council and Fiddlesticks Performing Arts have partnered to deliver Monday Music with Fiddlesticks, a program tailor made for families looking to start their young children's musical journey. Filled with musical tapping, clapping and shaking, the light-hearted classes are sure to get the little ones - and parents! - moving and grooving.

WGAC showcase opportunity
Sessions take place free of charge on the second Monday of each month at WGAC from 10.00am to 10.45am. Each is capped at a maximum of 20 children (parents are not included in the total numbers) so bookings are essential to avoid disappointment.
"We are delighted to announce Monday Music with Fiddlesticks," says Mayor of Baw Baw Shire Cr Annemarie McCabe. "It is a free, fun and low-pressure way to introduce some of the youngest members of our community to the joys of music. It is also a fantastic opportunity to showcase West Gippsland Arts Centre's diverse programming to new families and audiences that might not have had the opportunity to explore it."
"WGAC is rightly associated with top end theatrical performances and national and international touring acts, but it is also a fantastic family-friendly destination with lots of inclusive offerings catering to our whole community," says Cr McCabe.

MS McCabe also said, "Coffee Vibes by Knoxbrooke is a perfect example. The social enterprise cafe has absolutely taken off since opening at WGAC in May, proving a hit with everyone from local professionals to mother's groups. We're hoping that programs like Monday Music with Fiddlesticks will continue to build on that momentum and bring new and different audiences into our welcoming venue."

The initial Monday Music program is set to run from Monday 10 July through Monday 11 December 2023. The program is anticipated to continue into 2024, with more sessions to be confirmed following the holiday period. With excitement around the program reaching a fever pitch, parents are encouraged to contact the WGAC team to be placed on a waiting list should their preferred session be at capacity.
