Baw Baw Shire Council appoints John Bennie as Interim CEO during recruitment for permanent leadership
Baw Baw Shire Council has appointed John Bennie as Interim CEO while recruiting a permanent leader. Bennie, a seasoned local government executive, will commence next week, bringing valuable experience to the role.
Baw Baw Shire Council has today announced the appointment of Mr. John Bennie as the organisation's Interim Chief Executive Officer. Council voted to offer the temporary leadership role to John during this afternoon's Confidential Council Meeting.
At a Confidential Council Meeting, John Bennie was appointed Interim CEO. A respected leader, he joins Baw Baw Shire on Monday, 31 March
Interim leadership appointed
Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Danny Goss said John will take on the role as we continue to work through the comprehensive recruitment process for a new permanent Chief Executive Officer, of which the advertising campaign will launch today. "We would like to acknowledge and thank Mr Cohen Van der Velde for leading our organisation as Interim CEO over the last few months."
"John is a proven leader and accomplished CEO with a wealth of experience in local government. He is a former long-time CEO of the City of Greater Dandenong and will help the Council considerably in the months ahead. His experience will be invaluable. We look forward to John commencing next week and continuing to lead our organisation whilst we navigate the recruitment process for our new CEO," he said.
