The EFTPOS cards operate on a closed loop system and can only be spent in participating local stores, meaning all money spent goes back into the local economy. Latrobe City Council Mayor Cr Kellie O'Callaghan thanked the community and businesses for embracing the program over the past two years.

"It's fantastic to see the range of local businesses who are offering gift cards, giving people plenty of choices when it comes to spending the gift. As we head into the festive season, we would like to encourage our community to look locally first when it comes to gift shopping."

"By shopping locally, you're investing in our community and supporting local jobs as every dollar spent locally recirculates and further strengthens our economy," said the Mayor.
