Opportunity for positive outcomes
This included the Flood Recovery and Resilience Project, which requires a $4.25 million investment to secure the total funding required for a multipurpose precinct at Glenview Park and new pavilion within Traralgon Recreation Reserve. The Traralgon Highway Bypass was also presented as it provides an opportunity to construct a retardation basin that would mitigate future flood risks.
Mayor of Latrobe City, Councillor Kellie O'Callaghan thanked Minister Watt and Senator Ciccone for taking the time to visit Latrobe City. "Latrobe City Council was grateful for the opportunity to host Minister Murray Watt and Senator Raff Ciccone during their tour of Traralgon. This was a chance to provide further details on infrastructure opportunities that would reduce flood risks in the future including our Flood Recovery and Resilience Project and the Traralgon Highway Bypass."
Reduce flood impacts
Cr. O'Callaghan added, "The June 2021 flood and storms had a significant impact on our community including residences and we are also working to ensure that affected facilities are not only replaced but we take action to reduce the impacts of potential future events. We look forward to working with Minister Watt and Senator Ciccone in the future and strengthen a partnership that would create positive outcomes for Latrobe City."
