Enhancing local park

Council has developed the Draft Master Plan to further improve the park, honour its rich history, protect its natural beauty, and enhance the overall space to provide activities and amenities that will cater to the evolving needs of the local community.

There are several key elements of the draft master plan, which include:

  • Landscape and environment
  • Cultural reflection
  • Park amenities
  • Informal recreation

Baw Baw Shire Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said the development of a master plan for Alex Goudie Native Park was extremely important, in order to preserve the park and ensure it's maintained and upgraded in a way that would continue to benefit the local community.

Park improvement plans

Cr McCabe said, "Alex Goudie Native Park is such a beautiful space in the heart of Drouin and I am excited by the prospects of this Draft Master Plan, which contains exciting ideas about how to really maximise the space and make it even more of a drawcard for locals and visitors to Drouin."

"One of the key aims for council is to create a vibrant and resilient park that enriches the lives of our locals, and I would love to see and hear how our residents think we can further improve it," the Mayor said.

A copy of the master plan report can be found on the community consultation page on Baw Baw Connect with the public invited to have their say before Sunday 2 June. Following the end of this public exhibition phase, council will consider the feedback provided and develop a final Master Plan. This will include timeframes for when proposed improvements may be completed. Visit Enhancing Alex Goudie Native Park page to have your say, your way.
