Tiny Towns Fund of $20M to help Gippsland towns with populations under 5,000 enhance facilities and attract visitors

The Victorian government is supporting over 200 new projects in small regional towns and outer metropolitan areas through the $20 million Tiny Towns Fund, to enhance local facilities, attract visitors, and strengthen community resilience.

Hundreds of new projects are coming to Victoria's tiniest towns thanks to the Victorian government's support for projects that locals want and need to make their communities even better places to live, work, stay and play. The government is backing more than 200 new projects in our smallest regional towns and outer metropolitan areas as part of the $20 million Tiny Towns Fund. The fund's first round is supporting regional towns and outer metropolitan areas with populations below 5,000 people.

Small communities supported

From local hall upgrades to local sports club renovations, the Tiny Towns Fund is supporting our smallest communities through grants of up to $50,000 for projects that benefit locals and help attract more visitors. Mount Macedon locals with a green thumb will learn how to develop and maintain the Macedon and Mount Macedon Community House's gardens as part of a volunteer gardening program.

The program is supported through a grant of almost $39,000, in addition to previous support from the government to upgrade the community house. The Tiny Towns Fund is just one of the ways we're helping back stronger communities, increase tourism opportunities and create more jobs for locals. It builds on the recently announced $25 million Council Support Package, which is helping get shovel-ready projects off the ground in our regional cities and surrounding towns.

The fund is a part of our record $45 billion investment over the past decade in projects and programs that support regional and rural Victoria to be an even better place to live, work, stay and play. Our investments mean more locals have jobs close to home, more businesses and communities have the infrastructure they need to thrive, and more visitors can experience what our regions offer.
