Community feedback wanted on Christmas and New Year Eve celebrations fireworks for 205 and beyond by 31 January 2023
Bass Coast Shire Council are seeking community feedback on the future of fireworks as part of the annual Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations, to influence future celebration plans.
Council has committed to deliver fireworks as part of the Cowes Christmas Carols and New Year's Eve celebrations for the next three years (2022-2024). Council is evaluating the impact and benefits of these events on our community, to inform planned activities for 2025 and beyond.
The objective of the fireworks project is to seek community feedback on having fireworks as part of council's Christmas and New Years Eve celebrations

In addition to community and visitor feedback, council is also investigating further information on the environmental and economic impacts of fireworks, plus events held around these displays. Council aims to balance the needs of residents, business owners, visitors and our shared environment, while also creating a vibrant destination for all to enjoy.
Upcoming fireworks displays being held this summer in Bass Coast are:
- New Years Eve in Cowes, Saturday 31 December, 9.30pm
- New Years Eve in Inverloch, Saturday 31 December ,9.30pm
- New Years Eve in Coronet Bay, Saturday 31 December, 9.30pm
Once feedback is collated from business, community and visitors, council will combine with economic and environmental data. This will form a recommendation for how council celebrates the end of the year, and if fireworks are included, after 2024. Community is invited to share their feedback and thoughts on fireworks, before the deadline of 31 January 2022, at End of the Year Celebrations community engagement page.
