Shaping up the trail

Mr Chester said, "Since breaking ground at the end of last year, a lot has happened to the site. The 12.23 kilometre trail is now taking shape and being compacted to be suitable for riding. The public amenities including toilets are shaping up as well as the barbecue shelter, tables and seats."

Boosting local economy

Mr Chester, who secured $976,950 for the project said the completed park would be a fantastic tourist attraction. "The bike park will be a drawcard to our region and boost the local economy with visitors stopping in nearby towns for a coffee, bite to eat and to fuel up their cars,"

Promoting the facility

Mr Chester said, "The facility will promote, develop and conduct mountain bike competitions and events, organised social rides and functions. The trail will cater for all ages and abilities so it can be enjoyed by both experienced riders and those just starting out. Once visitors see everything Gippsland has to offer, I'm sure they will be back to use the park and explore more of the region."
