Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has praised Yarram's Mark Wigg for his long-standing dedication to raising funds for the Good Friday Appeal. "This year marks 50 years since Mark began rattling tins for the Good Friday Appeal. Over the five decades, Mark has raised thousands of dollars for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne, supporting vital programs, research, and advanced equipment to provide world-class care to children," Mr Chester said.

Honoring dedicated volunteers
Mr Chester said volunteers are the lifeblood of our community, and Mark's long-standing commitment to the Good Friday Appeal underscores Gippslanders' willingness to help each other. "It takes a special person to dedicate themselves to benefiting others and their community and asking for nothing in return. With volunteers like Mark, we can make Gippsland an even better place."
Mr Chester urged Gippslanders travelling through Yarram to keep an eye out for Mark, who can be spotted rattling tins on the main street wearing a purple shirt and a big smile. "I know families are feeling the pressure of the cost of living crisis, but every dollar counts," Mr Chester said.
"If you see Mark around Yarram and are in a position to spare some change or a few dollars, know that your donation will support vital projects to enhance patient care and equip regional hospitals with much-needed resources," Mr Chester said.
