Join seniors garden tour as part of Victorian Seniors Festival at Warragul Civic Park on 17 October 2023
Join Baw Baw 60+ community for a free guided garden tour of Warragul Civic Park on October 17. Enjoy morning tea, insights from an expert, and explore the park's history and features. Registration required. Uneven terrain; assistance available.
Baw Baw's over 60s community is encouraged to grab a group of friends and join in a free, guided garden tour of Warragul's Civic Park, as part of local Victorian Seniors Festival celebrations this October. Taking place on Tuesday 17 October, the event will begin with a morning tea and mingling outside the foyer at West Gippsland Arts Centre at 10:30 am followed by a guided tour of Warragul's Civic Park at 11:00 am.
Participants should note of the civic park's uneven terrain, involving walking and standing, staff will assist with any concerns before the tour
Event details
Council Open Space Maintenance Officer John Malins will lead the tour, sharing his insights and expansive knowledge of the park, including what goes into plant selection, information about the various species of trees, shrubs and flowers, as well as providing a behind the scenes peek into the park's maintenance requirements.
The guided tour will also take in the history of the park and its many features, including the two spring-fed ponds, community gathering spaces and facilities. The tour will conclude at the main pond where attendees are welcome to stay on and enjoy the surroundings. Key details are:

- Meeting point: Outside the West Gippsland Arts Centre Foyer Corner of Smith & Albert St, Warragul
Registration is required for this event to allow for catering purposes.
Civic park garden tour
Mayor of Baw Baw shire Annemarie McCabe said, "The Civic Park guided garden tour is just one of the fantastic events and activities happening this October to engage with our senior community members. It's the perfect opportunity to catch up with some friends in the beautiful park, learn some fascinating facts from our resident expert, or just come along and socialise and meet some like minded people!"
Attendees are advised that Civic Park has uneven ground surfaces with differing terrain. The tour will include walking and standing at different sections of the park.
