Latrobe Regional Gallery Interfacial Intimacies exhibition runs until 15 June 2025. An opening event with curator-led tour will be held on 11 April. The exhibition explores identity through contemporary art.

Latrobe Regional Gallery (LRG) recently opened its latest exhibition, Interfacial Intimacies. The exhibition will be on display until 15 June 2025 in Galleries four, five and six. An exhibition opening will be held on Friday 11 April from 6pm to 8pm. Curator, Caine Chennatt will deliver an exclusive Curator-led tour to LRG members and attendees will also have the chance to meet and hear from him from 6pm.

Interfacial Intimacies explores identity through diverse media, addressing shadows, masks, and cultural hybridity while preserving the artists' agency and opacity

Redefining the Self

For a long time, the 'self' was considered a stable and trustworthy container within which you can be found. Interfacial Intimacies focuses on what it means to be the absolute essence of who you are without being wedded to any of it. Artists involved in the exhibition include:

Latrobe City Council Mayor, Councillor Dale Harriman, encouraged people to check out the art. "Interfacial Intimacies is perfect for contemporary art lovers; it provides a very thought-provoking environment. Support your local art gallery and visit LRG daily between the hours of 10am to 4pm," said the Mayor.

Exploring artistic connections

Interfacial Intimacies is an exhibition developed by the Plimsoll Gallery and toured by Contemporary Art Tasmania. The Plimsoll Gallery is supported by the University of Tasmania. Contemporary Art Tasmania is supported by the Australian government through Creative Australia, its principal arts funding body, and by Arts Tasmania.

This project has been assisted by the Australian government's Visions of Australia Program and by the Contemporary Art Tasmania Exhibition Development Fund. More information about the exhibition and opening night can be found via the LRG website.
