Mallacoota Bowls Club gets $85,000 grant from federal Black Summer Bushfires program for new greens
Mallacoota Bowls Club volunteers are celebrating an $85,000 win with a Federal Government grant to help replace synthetic greens damaged in the Black Summer bushfires.
Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester met with the volunteers prior to Christmas and supported their funding bid. "The bowls club is an important part of the sporting and social life of Mallacoota with locals and visitors enjoying the relaxed atmosphere," Mr Chester said.

Project funding secured
Mr Chester also said, "The synthetic green was already approaching the end of its useful life before it was inundated with ash and fire debris two years ago. By selling a vacant block of land owned by the club and various fundraising efforts, the volunteers were in a strong position to bid for a grant.
"I'm pleased to see they secured $85,000 for this project." Mr Chester said. The club members plan to install the new green as soon as contractors can be arranged.
