Baw Baw Shire Council relaunches Family Friendly Baw Baw program for businesses to promote relevant amenities
Baw Baw Shire Council relaunches Family Friendly Baw Baw to promote local family-friendly services and encourage businesses to showcase their amenities.
Baw Baw Shire Council is proud to announce the relaunch of Family Friendly Baw Baw, a program that works with local businesses to promote the amazing services they have on offer for families and children across the Shire.
All businesses can display Family Friendly Service stickers to promote available amenities and services for parents and alert them to facilities within their business
Initiative seeks participation
The Family Friendly Baw Baw initiative encourages all local businesses to promote the facilities and amenities they have available that parents and families are welcome to use, including:
- Free access to a clean toilet
- Change tables
- High chairs
- Activities for young children
- Adequate space for prams and wheelchairs
- Comfortable space to feed your child
- Useful information for families
- Children's play spaces
- Children's menu items
- Facilities for warming up children's food (e.g. bottles)
Baw Baw businesses and residents may already be familiar with the Family Friendly Baw Baw Initiative which was initially launched in 2019. The popular program was suspended as a result of COVID19 disruptions but is now relaunched and is inviting new and existing businesses to get involved.
To participate, interested eligible businesses are invited to download and read the Family Friendly Baw Baw Information Pack and then register their family friendly business via the online form.
Team contacts businesses
Council's Family Friendly Project team will then be in touch with each business to provide them with an information pack and guidance on how to participate in the program. Businesses will also be distributed a sticker for display that indicates to families what services or facilities are available for children and parents to use without the obligation of making a purchase.
For families looking to identify family friendly facilities, a frequently updated list of all participating local businesses can be found at: Family Friendly Baw Baw Project page.
Promote local businesses
Mayor Cr Annemarie McCabe said, "We are excited to relaunch the popular Family Friendly Baw Baw. With so many new families moving into Baw Baw, it's important they are aware of the child friendly amenities available to them within the Shire."
"This program is a fantastic way to help promote our amazing local businesses, many of whom are run by families and people with children, as well as highlight the spaces available for families and children to feel comfortable and welcome."
"We're now inviting any of our local businesses who may have family friendly facilities at their site, to register their businesses and be a part of this great initiative." Cr McCabe said.
