Inspections identify maintenance needs for Cypress trees in San Remo as part of pioneering Bass Coast Urban Forest Strategy
Recent inspections identified maintenance needs for Cypress trees in San Remo. Pruning and removals are scheduled in early May, with wood repurposed for future art or furniture. Replacement planting supports forestry goals.
Bass Coast Shire Council staff continually monitor thousands of trees across our region to ensure safety and sustainability. Recent arborist inspections have identified maintenance requirements of Cypress trees opposite Back Beach Road in San Remo, which will receive pruning and an uplift of branches.

San Remo tree removal
These works will also involve the removal of one Cypress Tree in front of the San Remo Bakery in Marine Parade and one on the northern side of Phillip Island Road, opposite Back Beach Road. Council will be undertaking these tree works and tree removals in San Remo in early May.
In an effort to ensure sustainability, wood taken from trees on Marine Parade will be retained for reuse in the future for use as open space artwork or furniture. Replacement planting of between 3-4 trees will be planted promptly following the removal, supporting council's Urban Forestry Strategy objectives. Whilst trees are being removed, the replacement with suitable species will have a net benefit to canopy cover.

Bass Coast Mayor, Cr Clare Le Serve said, "Council's Urban Forestry Strategy, commits council to investing in our Urban Forest, including protection, planting and maintenance and management of trees in our urban landscape."
