Boosting reputation
Federal MP Darren Chester visited the farm on the Snowy River flats near Orbost where the garlic is grown and converted in black garlic bulbs, along with garlic concentrates and salts. "It's fantastic to see a local agricultural enterprise adding value to a crop and producing some of Australia's most acclaimed gourmet black garlic."
"The health benefits of garlic are well understood and Mark and Shelly are passionate about creating new products to expand their operations. They grow and produce on the rich agricultural flats of the Snowy River, near Orbost, but the secret is in post-harvest work where the black garlic is created. It's a delicious and high value product that is helping to boost Gippsland's reputation as a provider of fine foods." Mr Chester said.
